News from Leadership Team

This week at the Hill Campus, we celebrated both National Thank a Teacher Day and International Picnic Day. Our young people enjoyed year-group picnics, helping to prepare food beforehand and enjoying it together.

We have also begun transition activities in preparation for next year. These have included visits between the Hill and Manor Campuses, allowing pupils who will be joining us in September to become familiar with their new environment. In addition, some students from the Green Corridor have been visiting their new classes to support a smooth transition into the next stage of their school journey.

News from the Leadership Team

It has been a lovely week at Sherwood Manor. Pupils who will be moving to our campus from The Hill and The Park have continued their transition visits and some of our pupils have started visits to the other campus in return. It’s hard to believe the school has been open almost a year.

This week all classes have been learning about fractions in numeracy. They have undertaken investigations in finding fractions and Robin Class did this with Smarties, a ‘fraction’ of them got eaten. In science classes have continued investigations using milk, honey, water and oil, seeing how they interact with each other and can also create emulsion.

The story of the week has been 'The Witch with an Itch'. In Albatross Class the pupils made wands and spiders and used these to explore the story. In Cardinal Class the pupils used the text to explore adjectives, nouns and verbs. We also celebrated Windrush Day at our Tuesday assembly, learning how this generation is to be grateful for the work of those in past generations. We ended our week celebrating International Picnic Day, in the sunshine. The variety of food and music was brilliant and a great time was had by all!
