Maple Pathway
Length of lessons
- Average length of lesson for this cohort is 30 to 45 minutes per lesson (if considerably shorter/longer time needed due to the specific needs of the cohort consider whether you then need to add or remove lessons in the day to ensure coverage)
- Scheduled break times should not extend beyond 45 minutes maximum (to include personal care and postural changes).
Number of lessons covered
- Minimum of 3 lessons in the morning every day (unless including a specific extra curricular activity such as swimming, PFA, special event)
- Minimum of 3 lessons in the afternoon (including a short reflection session/assembly)
- Cross curricular planning is actively encouraged in all lessons in this curriculum.
- Play times should be labelled as ‘Break’ not Play and Leisure as this is a curriculum subject area and typical breaks do not cover the depth and breadth of this curriculum area
