Ash Pathway - Curriculum Coverage

Primary & Secondary Cohort - 2025-26
Ash Pathway

Length of Lessons

  • The average length of a lesson for this cohort is 15-20 minutes, depending on the pupils' engagement in the lesson. You can have lessons as short as ten minutes, depending on the pupils' engagement in their learning. If lessons are less than 15 minutes, consider offering a break and then continuing the lesson.
  • Learners should be introduced to following a cycle of regulation, work, and break (including choice time) This can be built into your lesson structure.
  • There are scheduled break times appropriate to the cohort and impacted by the transition that is required across the campus
  • Hygiene, toileting and eating times may take longer than other cohorts to ensure learning takes place at these times

Number of Lessons to be covered

  • Minimum of 3 lessons in the morning every day (unless including a specific extracurricular activity such as swimming, PFA, special event). This can involve embedding curriculum areas into extended circle time or breaktime, provided the subject area covered aligns with the lesson title, e.g., Breaktime - Thinking & Problem Solving - snack.
  • Minimum of 3 lessons in the afternoon
  • Cross-curricular planning is actively encouraged in all lessons in this curriculum.
  • Additionally, a short reflection session/assembly daily for 15 min
