Absence Reporting

Parent/Carers need to report when your child is absent from school, for example due to illness or a medical/dental appointment, and we request that you undertake the following:

Day 1:
  • Contact the school to report an absence, including the reason for the absence by 7.30am either by phone:

      Park Campus: 020 8773 9930
      Manor Campus: 020 8669 7832
      Hill Campus: 020 4628 0808

  • Or complete the online Absence reporting form by 7.30am for the relevant campus:

Subsequent days:

If you become aware that your child's absence will continue into the next day, advise the campus of the continued absence by 3pm or 7.30am the subsequent day using the same processes as day 1

First Day Calling Policy:

If we don't hear from you, the school office team will contact you to ascertain the reason for your child's absence.

School Attendance and the Law

Parents and carers are responsible for ensuring their children attend school regularly and punctually.

Under the Education (Pupil Registration) Regulations 2006, only the school (and not parents/carers) can authorise an absence. However, amendments came into force on 1st September 2013 stating that time off for a family holiday during term time is not a legal right; Head teachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Applications for Planned Absence from School

Should your child require a planned leave of absence during termtime, for example for a holiday, families are requested to submit an Application for Pupil Leave of Absence in advance by obtaining an absence request form from the school office or printing out a copy at home.

The head teacher will consider every request on an individual basis and will give approval if it is felt there are personal or compassionate reasons for doing so.

If a holiday is taken without prior permission from the school, or where the request for leave was not agreed, the absence will be recorded as "unauthorised" and, in very exceptional circumstances, may attract a penalty fine notice issued by the Local Council.
