Curriculum Summary
Introduction to our Curriculum
At Sherwood Foundation School, we believe that all of our pupils are capable of actively participating in their own learning, making progress throughout their life at school; building the skills needed to live fulfilled lives as adults and contributing to society. Our curriculum is broad, balanced, meaningful and functional, and endeavours to support pupils to reach their individual goals. The curricula supports skill development in all the areas of an individual’s EHCP and compliments the child’s Personalised Learning Programmes (PLPs). The curriculum has been developed with the outcomes defined within the Preparing for Adulthood agenda and feeds into our Post 16 Curriculum.
At Sherwood Foundation School we believe in a trans-disciplinary approach, where the teaching and therapy teams work collaboratively to develop the curriculum and meet the provision requirements and outcomes of the EHCP for all children and young people within the school.
The Sherwood Foundation Curriculum Framework is an evolving project and is an amalgamation of several different schemes that benchmarks its breadth and depth against the national curriculum and blends nationally recognised curricula alongside our own team’s work. This has led to a broad and balanced suite of schemes of work (SoWs) for learners and teachers to work from. Progress and personal achievement is assessed, recorded and celebrated using a variety of tools.

For more information on each area of our curriculum, see the specific Key Stage pages in this section.
